General Secretary of NFSL: Security is the base of any development

Mohammad Ali Abdullah-General Secretary of the National Front for the Salvation of Libya (NFSL).

Of course in this stage there are many goals that Libyan people are looking forward too but the major priority and the base for all other goals is to establish security as the security situation in the country is the top priority; then comes the transparent performance of the state officials because transparency is the key to credibility and when credibility is lost between the people and the government, then it will be hard to regain it so it is very important to have transparency and strong communication between the people and the government, these are the two main priorities for the current stage. After that in the current stage we need to go to the constitutional legitimacy and all the steps taken by the council to be within this framework as we need to return to an elected government and establishments which will work on drafting a constitution to be presented to a referendum and then we head to the stage of the second independence state. We cannot separate security from any other goal because without security we cannot improve education, healthcare or economy or anything else, of course I will not choose one and leave the rest but security is the base of other goals, if you want to improve education you must keep students and teachers safe and to be able to bring in good staff you must have security. So without security we cannot achieve anything.

For Al Aan channel, its march with the Libyan revolution was long and many channel were effective even on the decision makers in Libya and Al Aan channel was one of the pioneer media tribunes during the 17th of February revolution and without a doubt Al Aan gave Libyan people the window through which they interact with the events of the revolution. If I want to speak about a specific story, it will be when I watched on Al Aan the events in Misrata in the street of Tripoli when, and here as a Libyan man from the city of Misrata knowing that the whole civilians were threatened to be exterminated, but at that time Al Aan aired reports highlighting the victories achieved by the rebels with their light weapons and humble equipments and managed to repel big military arsenal, so I remember that night when the street of Tripoli was liberated in the middle of Misrata I felt that the camera of Al Aan conveyed the happiness to us and the news that we were not even dreaming about. This is one of the big stories that Al Aan aired along with tens of similar stories.
