شهدت مدينة مصراته الليبية أول عملية انتخابية بعد الإطاحة بنظام معمر القذافي حيث توافد الناخبون من الجنسين رجالا ونساء منذ صباح اليوم على مراكز الاقتراع وذلك للادلاء بأصواتهم لانتخاب أعضاء المجلس المحلي مصراته ، وسيكون عدد الأعضاء المنتخبين ثمانية وعشرين عضوا لينتخب هؤلاء الأعضاء فيما بعد رئيس ونائب الرئيس للمجلس المحلي .. د. محمد الكبتي .. عضو اللجنة العليا المستقلة لانتخابات المجلس المحلي مصراته
Ahmed Shagloof: First elections in Misrata since 42 years

Libyan city Misrata witnessed its first elections after the fall of Gaddafi regime. Men and women poured to the elections centers to vote for electing members of Misrata local council. The number of elected members will reach 28 members, they will choose a president and vice president.

The elections to form a local council in Misrata are about to take place today morning in the 20th of February. Today 78 election centers opened for voters. These centers were equipped with the needed ballot boxes and ink. Voters started to come to voting centers since 8 am. The attendance was huge, Libyans stood in lines and everyone waited for their turn. All reports we received from voting centers refer that all procedures are going on peacefully. Some issues might take place in some centers but were dealt with. The Higher Committee for Elections defined the time which elections would start is 8 in the morning, till 8 in the evening. The next phase will be counting the votes, the results will be issued on Tuesday evening. Elected members of local council will meet and elect a president.
