Iran adds insult to injury with its foreign policies
Adding insult to injury; it is a sentence that summarizes Irans policies towards the international community. The international condemnations were increasing over Iranian military drills in the Strait of Hormuz and near the Afghani borders, and then Iran announced operating its new uranium enrichment facility in Fordo which is hidden inside the mountains of Qom which carries religious significance.
The US quickly considered the Iranian announcement as frank provocation and additional proof that Iran is seeking to develop nuclear weapons. From its side, the EU decided to bring its next meeting closer to approve new sanctions on Iran.
In spite of suggested strength of the challenge and provocations coming from Iranian announcements and challenges to the international will, observers see this aggressive policies by Iran revealing big confusion inside the Iranian political administration and that is translated into losing its cards in the region, like the threats to close the Strait of Hormuz and that was rectified by the GCC as UAE and Oman announced their intention to build new oil refinery that will ensure continuous flow of oil.
The balanced response by GCC to the Iranian threats made many countries that are known of supporting Iran to review their positions. China, which was opposing the bans on Iranian oil exports is now discussing with KSA the ways of providing China with oil far from Hormuz.
With all these developments, Iran insists on showing its ability to circumvent the international sanctions through making tours in South America with big economy dreams and these tours are seen by many economy experts as a method to postpone the deterioration of Irans economy crisis and they may also be used as a way to absorb the anger of Iranian public opinion as Iranians are fed up with their economy difficulties.
